Well what a weekend! There were mixed results at the 4th MCRCWA Championship Meet for the Rilusi race team. Cameron Gore kept it upright and finished the day with two trophies and heavy eyes- as 48 hrs before was working in the ocean off Russia, and flew via about 5 other countries to make it back to Perth for the weekend (thanks to his wife for organising the connecting flights!)

I think the hoodoo for the weekend started on Friday at practice, we had mounted a camera on the side of the fairing and within two laps it had fallen off into the basin. We are still trying to find the memory card! In the first race for the weekend Mark Schnierer started from 11th due to his previous round indiscretion at turn 7 and not continuing through the dummy grid saw us obtain a 15 sec penalty and thus 11th position. He worked his way up to 3rd at the checkered flag which provided us with some reward for the effort.

In the second race after a hotly contested 8 laps with Chris Galbraith saw Mark take 2nd by the finest margin. Ben Stronich had bolted in both races to leave Mark Schnierer, Chris Galbraith, Ben Henry, Kevin Bolten to fight out the lower positions. In the third race after once again being swamped at the start, Mark worked his way through the field by the second lap and was going for third position before falling off at turn seven. Now that Mark is an expert at crashing at turn 7 he learnt to go through the dummy grid to rejoin the race! He was not injured and the bike sustained minimal damage thanks to our RILUSI crash knobs and rearsets and the 2k carbon fibre titanium Yoshimura crash knob - (muffler) !!

Mark Booty had a good first race as he was competing in a B grade select C with a good result seeing he hadn't been on the bike since the last round and also gaining a PB of 60.3 secs this must have given him the red mist for the second race which had seen him romp away to a 7 sec lead by lap 5 only to decide he wanted to play in the sand, and parked it in the sand trap at turn one. He also thankfully was not injured even though it was a fast dismount followed by a good tumble. This left the bike a bit second rate with too much sand everywhere and possibly in the engine. Aaron decided it was not worth risking engine damage as the throttles were full of sand.

Cameron Gore was on the money considering the previous days travelling, with him placing high in the first B grade race  and being the first C grader home. This is a good result considering the bike is 5 years older than everything else on the grid and still running stock suspension. He also cracked a PB of 59 sec lap which was a good boost for all involved especially Cam. The two Mark's are nervously looking over their shoulders in the pit bay to see if Aaron's measuring the 08 Gixxer or the 08 ZX10 to see if Cameron likes it! Aaron's thinking on the Gixxer Cam would be able to pull a 56 sec lap considering it's got 50 horsepower more and the suspension to handle it (you better pull your finger out hey Princesses!!)

A special thanks Damian Mclachlan our parts man for his efforts with setting up and displaying some of the product ranges we carry and our own latest product releases and clothing, which was once again a big hit thanks to the assistance of our RILUSI grid girls. And also a special thanks to the Rilusi pit crew- Paul Beacher, James Orechow and Jim Watkins and Lindsay Wood from motorsportpics.net  and all the friends and supporters who turned up on the day.
